Transradial PCI with Same Day Discharge
October 12, 2020
For the right patients, same day discharge following PCI has become an integral and increasing part of my practice. The majority of my elective PCI patients now go home 4 hours post PCI. Patient satisfaction is off the charts. Hospital bed utilization and throughput are optimized. The transradial approach has really made this possible. It is by far the optimal strategy for arterial access making outpatient PCI both safe and efficient. I sleep much better at night knowing my patient is home in their bed at no risk for femoral access complications. In my opinion this strategy is the new standard of care for stable elective PCI.
